Details

This Red Nose Safe Sleeping eLearning course is based on the Red Nose Safe Sleeping education campaign, which has been developed by Red Nose's National Scientific Advisory Group, a committee made up of experts in the fields of research, health care and midwifery.

Since risk reduction campaigns began in 1990, there has been an 85% decrease in sudden unexpected deaths in infancy in Australia, saving an estimated 9,967 lives.

The course is presented by Professor Jeanine Young who is the Professor of Nursing at the University of the Sunshine Coast and a member of the Red Nose National Scientific Advisory Group. She is a registered nurse, midwife, and neonatal nurse with more than 25 years of experience in neonatal, paediatric and child health care.

Learning outcomes include the six evidence-based recommendations for reducing the risk of SUDI, understanding the reasons behind the recommendations and how to implement them. There are also other areas of care such as how to wrap baby safely, when to move baby from cot to bed, dummy use and the importance of tummy time.
